NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Last year, a 16-year-old boy stowed away in the wheel well of a commercial flight from California to Hawaii survived, despite frigid temperatures at 38,000 feet and a lack of oxygen. That the boy made it to Maui alive after a 5 1/2- hour flight from San Jose was considered a miracle.
Today, yet another miracle happened on a flight from San Francisco to New York. This time, it wasn’t a young boy. It was a cat named Murphy.
Murphy had apparently sneaked into a luggage without the traveler noticing it. The luggage passed security check and all, and the cat made it through the 5-hour flight to La Guardia Airport with no problem.
It was only when the traveler arrived at his Manhattan apartment that he discovered Murphy as he was unpacking his luggage.
Murphy is owned by the traveler’s friend with whom he stayed during his visit to San Francisco.
While it is common knowledge that cats have nine lives, it is still unthinkable that Murphy survived the flight stuck in a luggage in the cargo hold of the Boeing 747 for five hours.
An investigation is now underway to determine how Murphy passed strict baggage security screening at the San Francisco International Airport. Surely, heads are gonna roll.
Regardless, Murphy’s owner in San Francisco is glad that his furry friend is safe and sound.
On the way back to San Francisco, Murphy will be in a crate, this time in the passenger cabin.
All’s well that ends well.
