ASTRONOMISTS REINSTATE PLANET STATUS FOR PLUTO

imageBARCELONA, Spain (The Adobo Chronicles) – In 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) formally defined “planet,” and the new definition excluded Pluto and reclassified it as a member of the new “dwarf planet” category.  It was a move that disappointed many Plutonians.

Discovered in 1930, Pluto was originally considered the ninth planet from the sun. Many generations that preceded the millennials learned this from their science class and nothing — not even the declaration from the IAU — could change their vew of the planet world.

Schools, libraries, book publishers and Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) have banded together to protest Pluto’s declassification as a planet, arguing that the IAU move would result in astronomical costs to replace long-held planetary information in textbooks, film documentaries and other scientific educational materials.

Today, after almost a decade being bombarded with complaints and protests, the IAU relented and officially returned Pluto to its original planet status. The decision was announced at the IAU annual meeting being held in Barcelona, Spain.

On 14 July 2015, the Pluto system is due to be visited by spacecraft for the first time. The New Horizons probe will perform a flyby during which it will attempt to take detailed measurements and images of Pluto and its moons.

WHITE WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN POSING AS BLACK SAYS SHE IS ALSO PART NATIVE AMERICAN AND PART HAWAIIAN

SPOKANE, Washington (The Adobo Chronicles) -The alleged white woman who has  been posing as an African American today revealed that she was also part Native American and part Hawaiian.

For nearly a decade, Rachel Dolezal, who heads the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington, has claimed to be African American. However, her parents, who appeared on HuffPostLive Friday, have revealed that she is white.

While some argue that Ms. Dolezal was merely sympathetic to the cause, Rachel was committed to blackface and playing the role on a daily basis by bronzing her skin and wearing black hairstyles. Rachel’s IG handle is, “Afrocentricfemme.”

But there’s more. Rachel also claims to be Native American, although she has not stated from what Tribal Nation she hails.  She says she was born in a Montana tipi in 1977 and that her family hunted for food  with bows and arrows.

She also claims that she is part Hawaiian, telling reporters that her daily diet consists of poi (a Hawaiian staple) and lau lau (a pork and seafood dish wrapped in taro leaves). Her favorite dessert is haupia, a coconut-based pudding popular in the Hawaiian islands.

The Adobo Chronicles  tried to look at records to see if she had attended the Kamehameha School which is exclusive to Native Hawaiians or part Native Hawaiians.  We have not found any record to support Rachel’s claim.

PHILIPPINES PROTESTS ZERO SCORES FOR ITS DIVERS AT SOUTHEAST ASIAN GAMES IN SINGAPORE

SINGAPORE (The Adobo Chronicles) – Officials of the Philippine delegation to the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Singapore filed a formal protest today, contesting the zero scores the judges gave to two of its diving athletes.

The Filipino divers failed to  complete their rotations during their dive. One landed flat on his back and the other went into the pool, feet first.

“It is a matter of pride and fairness ” the officials contended. “We aren’t asking for a medal. All we are asking is that the zero scores be reversed to at least recognize the degree of difficulty with which our young athletes performed in the competition.”

The officials also said that their divers broke all existing world records with a feat no athlete has ever attempted before.
