POPE FRANCIS EXCOMMUNICATES PHILIPPINES SOCIAL WELFARE SECRETARY DINKY SOLIMAN

imageTHE VATICAN, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles) –  As she wiped her tears, Philippines Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman finally admitted on Tuesday that she had homeless people rounded up to put Manila in order for the visit of Pope Francis last month.

Soliman testified at a hearing of the Senate committee on social justice, welfare and rural development that was called to investigate persistent reports that she rounded up homeless people and  street children, sending  them on a paid vacation for the duration of the papal visit. She explained that the 100 families, or 427 individuals, living along Roxas Boulevard that traverses the cities of Manila, Pasay and Paranaque were brought to Chateau Royale resort in Batangas, south of the capital. It cost the government 4.75 Million Pesos.

Upon learning of the admission, Pope Francis immediately signed a pastoral document excommunicating Soliman from the Catholic Church.  As per tradition, excommunication bars a Catholic individual from receiving or participating in church sacraments, including, but not limited to, receiving Holy Communion or a church burial.

“I visited the Philippines to be with the poor, homeless, sick and down-trodden,” Francis said, “and it is unconscionable  that they were hidden from me just so the government will look good.”

The Pope promised to return to Manila for a private visit later this year to be with the children and homeless who were rounded up and hidden by Soliman.

  1. The above article sounds unreal; however, if there was truth to it then I will say that the quick decision of Pope Francis to excommunicate the woman is hard to believe. I just read a book on Pope Francis and learned that he gives fair treatment to everyone. Taking drastic action on someone’s alleged wrong doing is unbelievable. That I don’t believe…sorry. I am questioning the credibility of Adobo Chronicles on such article.

  2. This saddens me even more… but i have hope. I know that God has something store for Mam Dinky Soliman. God is the Good Shepherd. He will never hesitate to leave the 99 just to look for the lost sheep. People are quick to judge others and to jump into conclusion. The pope may have excommunicated her, but God’s mercy is more and above any human judgment. We can never really know. Canon law has this to say…”Salus animarum suprema lex.”

  3. Whatever people think about it, to me what Soliman showed was Philippine hypocrisy in the worst level. Why do we have to pretend that there are no homeless people in our country when it had been known all over the glove that the Philippines is one of the poorest countries in the world. Aside from that, we are known to have the bad government officials, our government workers, if not all, are mostly corrupt, dishonest. What do we have that we in the foreign lands could be proud of? The Philippines is a very beautiful country, but for the touring foreigners, it’s one of the most dangerous in the world with these swindlers, pickpockets, hold-uppers, kidnappers for ransom, etc.etc. Hopefully, with a new President in the coming years, there will be huge changes.

  5. One of the intention of Pope Francis in visiting the Philippines is personally to see the victim of Typhoon Yolanda particularly in Ormoc Leyte. The Province Aklan was also badly heat by the Super Typhoon Yolanda. This coming Nov. 8 to be exact it was almost 2 years and yet under the Recovery Program which was Under the DSWD there where so many anomalies and discrepancies on the distribution of Emergency Shelter Assistance or (ESA) and until at this point of time there are still victims waiting and haven’t avail of the said assistance. If their Superior managed to hide the Homeless people living along Roxas Boulevard in Mla. during the Papal Visit, how much more its Subordinates here in Region 6 most especially in the Province of Aklan. The Government should look into this Report.

    1. SOMETIMES WE SAY THAT THE POPE IS UNJUST BECAUSE WE MAY DID THE SAME. THE POPE IS INFALLIBLE AS LONG AS HE TALKS ABOUT MORALITY. THE POPE IS NOT A POLTICIAN AND HE IS NOT BOUND TO BE CALLED UNJUST JUST BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE BENEFITED FROM HER (DSWD). SOMETIMES, IF WE JUST ACCEPT THE REAL TRUTH, IT WILL REALLY SET US FREE. THE GROUNDS FOR EXCOMMUNICATION ARE FOUNDED ON MORALITY AND THE POPE IS THE RIGHT PERSON TO INTERPRET IT, BUT, IF WE ARE AGAINST TO HIM, SO BE IT. BUT, PLEASE, LET US BE IMPARTIAL IN DECIDING THE POPE’S DECISION. IT’S NOT HIS SOLE DECISION BUT IT IS FOUNDED ON THE TENETS OF THE FATHERS OF THE CHURCH. DAGHANG SALAMAT.

BY THE WAY, THE POPE IS ONLY INFALIBLE IN MATTER OF CATHOLICCHURCH DOCTRINE, AND HE WILL THEN SAY “I DECLARE THIS TO BE TRUE!

        1. haha, why is it people are so lazy to read nowadays, they want instant things…instant noodles, coffee…and they make instant comments, di kasi nagbabasa. If adobo chronicles writes an article that TRAPO politicians were able to successfully clone themselves how many would fall for it. I always enjoy adobo chronicles and read below the comments for added amusement.

  10. What Dinky Soliman did during the Pope’s visit is just the tip of the iceberg. What about the way she handled the Yolanda crisis? The way she LIED about the rotting relief goods that the DSWD could not distribute. The way she mishandled taking over the private citizens’ Oplan Hatid – remember how the DSWD suddenly tried to take over the private citizens’ communal effort because the government took so long to act on the refugee survivors’ welfare? The way it was noticeable that she was “busy-busyhan” in Tacloban ONLY when the media was there. The way international relief was blocked and repacked into DSWD bags which delayed the distribution process. The way she covered up PNoy’s messy rescue efforts. Dinky is nothing but a sipsip balimbing who will bend over to anyone in power. And she cares about nothing but dye the strand of hair on her head.

  11. I would like to complain about the DELAY in the adoption process of the DSWD. A baby was found in a church in Dumaguete. A decent Godly couple wanted to adopt said child.the DSWD prefered to keep the child in an orphanage rather than put the child in a family atmosphere. I agree we have to investigate, but over a YEAR has passed meanwhile the baby grows.

    1. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me so I’m going to announce the good news to the poor.” He also said, “Let the children come unto me..:” What have these church-goers, so far, done?
