FRANKFURT, Germany (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – In the U.S., corporations are people. In Germany, robots are people, so when they commit murder, they should be tried in court just like, well, people.
A robot at one of Volkswagen’s production plants in Germany has killed a worker, the German automaker said Wednesday.
The man died Monday at the plant in Baunatal, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) north of Frankfurt, VW spokesman Heiko Hillwig said.
The 22-year-old was part of a team that was setting up the stationary robot when it grabbed and crushed him against a metal plate, Hillwig said.
Prosecutors were preparing to bring charges against the robot who remains in custody pending bail.
In solidarity with the victim, The Adobo Chronicles® has decided to auction off its company car, a Volkswagen, on eBay. We will likely replace the company car with a Tesla.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family, and we hope that companies will return to the good old days of employing people, not robots or computers.
