LEVI’S STADIUM SOLD TO OAKLAND RAIDERS!

imageSanta Clara, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – San Francisco is having the last laugh, although it’s at the expense of its beloved team, the 49ers.

It was just this past summer when the 49ers moved to its new home stadium, Levi’s in Santa Clara, following the closure of Candlestick Park.

The move from San Francisco to Santa Clara has all but crushed the 49ers’ chances of being in the Super Bowl. In fact, San Francisco’s season is on the brink of extinction after the 49ers (7-6) imploded in a 24-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders (2-11) on Sunday.

Following the devastating 49er loss  to the Raiders, the San Francisco team finally agreed to sell the Levi’s Stadium to the Oakland team which has been eyeing the new stadium since it opened in August.

Jim Harbaugh’s squad will have to look for another home stadium and the consensus among the owner, coach and players is to move back to San Francisco. They believe that moving back will revive the luster that the team had when they were in the Super Bowl two years ago.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee was a happy camper after hearing of the sale and  pledged to do all he can to help find a new home for the 49ers in the City by the Bay.

LEVI’S WITHDRAWS FROM NAMING RIGHTS AGREEMENT FOR 49er STADIUM

Santa Clara, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Levi Strauss & Co. today announced that it is withdrawing from its $220 Million, 20-year agreement with the San Francisco 49ers for the naming rights to the new football stadium in Santa Clara.

Levi’s Stadium just opened this summer to become the new home of the 49ers following the closure of Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh made the stunning announcement following today’s disappointing 49er loss to the St. Louis Rams. Today’s loss puts the 49ers at 4 wins and 4 losses in the current National Football Conference season. They now trail The Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West Division.

“We don’t want our name to be associated with a losing team,” Bergh said, adding that “we would rather pay a penalty and default on our contract with the 49ers.” Levi’s will pay an undisclosed hefty penalty for breaking the contract.

49ers CEO Jed York said that he is currently in talks with underwear company Jockey for a deal to rename Levi’s Stadium to Jockey Stadium.

Jockey is the same company that produced and gave away 2,000 limited edition underwear marked ‘Mad Bum’ to honor SF Giants’ Mad Bumgarner’s fantastic season that led to the team’s third World Series title in five years.

Well, Jockey has some kind of nice ring  to it, as long as fans don’t mistake it to be a hockey stadium.

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – The San Francisco Giants are going to the World Series for the third time in the last five years, and their fan base is definitely growing exponentially.

This means that when they host their part of the seven-game World Series against the  Kansas City Royals, the 41,503-capacity AT&T Park may not be big enough to accommodate their die-hard fans.

It is for this reason that the Giants are  now negotiating with the 49ers to use Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara to host the Royals for games 3, 4 and 5 of the World Series,  assuming of course there is a game 5.

The new Levi’s Stadium has a capacity of 68,000 and can easily accommodate Giants fans plus a sprinkling of Royals fans.

The board of directors of the 49ers will meet in an emergency meeting tonight to consider the Giants’ request.
