FOREIGN CONCERT ARTISTS UNITE TO BOYCOTT THE PHILIPPINES

LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Foreign concert artists continue to run afoul of the Philippines’ strict moral and other standards, and they are uniting to skip the country for their world music tours.

In 2012, a Lady Gaga Manila concert attracted widespread protest due to supposedly anti-Christian lyrics in one of the singer’s hits. And earlier this year, two members of One Direction paid bonds of roughly $4,500 before their performance in Manila, due to their casual admission of marijuana use in a video released last year.

This week, Grammy Award winner Chris Brown was barred from leaving the country after a one-day concert in Manila because of fraud charges brought against him by an influential church group. The charges stemmed from the singer’s non-appearance at a New Year’s Eve concert at the Philippine Arena, owned by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ).

Earlier today, Madonna, who had just announced she has chosen the Philippines as the only country in Asia that would be included in her Rebel Heart Tour, said she decided to cancel her February 2016 concert at the Mall of Asia in Manila, in solidarity with Brown.

The boycott could either deprive Filipinos of the chance to see their favorite international artists, or possibly enhance the careers of local singers and performers. After all, Filipino artists are among the best in the world.

Los Angeles, California – The competition for the title of “Avant Garde Performer of the Year” is heating up, and the two top contenders remain the same: Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. Music fans will recall the performances of the two ladies at the last MTV Video Music Awards where they both stripped to their bikini outfits. Cyrus, with her now infamous “twerking” clearly outclassed Lady Gaga that night. The awards show was billed “MTV’s Porno Music Awards” by The Adobo Chronicles.

Today, Lady Gaga announced an out-of-this-world concert in 2015 — a concert in space. She says she plans to perform aboard the Virgin Galactic, the passenger spaceplane being launched by British billionaire Richard Branson to popularize space tourism. When she officially launches her new album, “Artpop,” this Sunday, she will perform one song on the spaceship during the Zero G Colony high-tech festival in New Mexico.

As expected, Miley Cyrus immediately countered with her own first-of-a-kind concert plan. Cyrus said she is currently training for a spectacular concert at the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Western Pacific Ocean. The planned 45-minute concert will be beamed worldwide by satellite and will feature Cyrus singing and twerking inside a special submersible. Although this is not the first time that a celebrity will be lowered into the deepest bottom of the ocean (Titanic producer James Cameron did this in March of 2012), it will be the first time that anyone has ever attempted a live concert under water.

Neither performer has indicated the exact schedule of their planned unworldly concerts, but sources close to The Adobo Chronicles said that the concerts could be scheduled on the exact day and time. Neither will be recorded, so watching the concerts other than “live” will not be an option. Which begs the question: which will the fans watch — Lady Gaga in space or Miley Cyrus in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean?

MTV’S PORNO VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS

New York, New York – Millions of viewers got the shock of their lives Sunday night as MTV’s 2013 Video Music Awards unfolded on their televisions screens. Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga competed for the night’s most coveted title of “porno queen,” a new award category begun this year by the music video channel.

Lady Gaga opened the program dressed in a white nun’s habit and square headdress. At first the audience didn’t care much for her appearance, as evidenced by boos heard over the sound system. But before her song, “Applause” came to an end, the crowd roared as she stripped down to a thong bikini and sea shell bras. Not to be outdone, former teen idol Miley Cyrus didn’t bother to cover up right from the beginning of her number, “Blurred Lines,” with Robin Thicke. She quickly stripped to a flesh-colored bikini, shook her bootie, stuck her tongue out and pointed a giant foam finger at her and Thicke’s private parts.

The winner was not announced until after the telecast because the judges couldn’t decide on who was the better porno queen. MTV had to rely on Twitter comments to make its final decision. The verdict? Miley Cyrus wins.

MTV announced that beginning next year, it will also hand out a “porno king” award. Because of the excitement generated by last night’s show, the network is reportedly contemplating on changing the official name of awards to MTV Porno Video Music Awards.
