Meta Suspends ABS-CBN Account For Community Violations!

MENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Menlo Park Bureau) – Blame it on its PR Department, but ABS-CBN’s Meta/Facebook account has been indefinitely suspended.

It all sprung from a post by ABS-CBN’s PR Department announcing the passing of actress Maricel Soriano — or at least the character she played in the teleserye — “Pira Pirasong Paraiso.”

The FB announcement shocked fans thinking Soriano had passed on. It was actually the character Amanda Barrameda she played who had passed.

But worst of all, the ABS-CBN post included a graphic of a knife which led fans to believe that Soriano was killed through a knife attack, a violent way for anyone to leave this earth.

Facebook’s community standards couldn’t be more clear about the ban on posting violent photos and graphics about killing weapons, including knives!

Senator Cynthia Villar: The ‘BOBOtization’ Of The Filipino

In her recent statement that Filipinos are “bobo” for importing chemical fertilizer, Senator Cynthia Villar seems to have conveniently forgotten her pivotal role in the Rice Tariffication Law, a piece of legislation that opened the floodgates for private trader- imported rice, crippling our own rice farmers. It’s almost comical to witness the audacity of a person who champions one form of importation while vilifying another.

One must marvel at the cognitive dissonance required to simultaneously condemn imported fertilizer and endorse imported rice, as if the interests of Filipino farmers can be selectively championed. Perhaps Sen. Villar has a keen sense of irony and has decided to master the art of the double standard. (And let us not forget that Villar is no fan of research!)

If only she could fertilize her memory with the knowledge of her own legislative history, perhaps she would refrain from labeling the very people she’s impacted with her own decisions as “bobo.”

Alas, the satirical paradox prevails, and the hypocrisy of it all remains a bitter harvest for Filipino farmers.

A COA Investigation Over Senator Risa Hontiveros’ Giant Billboards?

The Commission on Audit (COA) has initiated an investigation into the sudden proliferation of massive billboards featuring Senator Risa Hontiveros across Metro Manila. These billboards boldly declare that the disputed South China Sea territories belong to the Philippines. While the sentiment may be noble, the colossal price tags on these advertisements are raising eyebrows.

One can’t help but wonder if Senator Hontiveros moonlights as a secret billionaire, single-handedly financing her extravagant billboards, which reportedly cost a jaw-dropping P200,000 each month or over P2 million a year. That’s PER billboard.

COA, ever the vigilant watchdog, is keen to find out if Hontiveros has a secret stash of gold doubloons hidden away, or perhaps her own private intelligence fund for extravagantly patriotic ad campaigns.

But that’s not all – COA will also investigate whether these billboards received generous contributions from wealthy politicians or even foreign governments determined to stick it to China.

Perhaps we’ve just uncovered a secret cabal of billboard enthusiasts dedicated to solving international disputes through advertising. Only time will tell.
