Responding To Criticism, Rappler Revises Its News Headlines!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Online news source Rappler has never been coy about its bias against President Rodrigo Duterte and the Marcoses.

Such bias surfaced yet again when Rappler reported on the announcement and subsequent filing of the certificate of candidacy by former Senator Bongbong Marcos who is running for President in 2022.

Rappler’s headlines and stories described Marcos as ”dictator’s son” and ”defeated VP candidate.”

Critical comments flooded Rappler’s’ web page and social media accounts and it was too much to bear for its convicted CEO, Maria Ressa who ordered her staff to revise all its headlines on the Presidential race.

While Rappler did not alter its headlines and stories on Marcos, it did revise its headlines and reporting on other Presidential candidates like Manny Pacquiao and Leni Robredo:

Liberal Party Ousts Chair Leni Robredo!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Opposition Liberal Party ousted Vice President Leni Robredo, minutes after she formally filed her certificate of candidacy for President in the 2022 Philippine elections.

Robredo, LP Chair, is running as an Independent candidate. She even adopted the pink color for her campaign, instead of the usual yellow color of the Opposition.

Sources close to the LP told The Adobo Chronicles that they unanimously expelled the VP for running as an independent, ” a blow to the long-time major influential political group founded in 1946 by Manuel Roxas and Elpidio Quirino.

The Leni ouster follows a similar move by the ruling PDP-Laban Party which automatically ousted Senator Manny Pacquiao for filing his presidential candidacy under a different banner, the Cebu-founded Progressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiatives (PROMDI).

Moral of the story: don’t mess with political parties. Otherwise, you get kicked out!

VP Leni Robredo Endorses Pinky Lacson For President!

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – After suspenseful weeks of silence and teasers about her plans for the 2022 Presidential elections, Vice President Leni Robredo finally announced that she has decided not to run for the top post of the land.

Instead, Robredo formally endorsed Panfilo Lacson for President. Her attire, and that of her daughters who are all girls as well as her spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said it all . They donned the color pink — ribbons, face masks, shirts — an abrupt departure from the Opposition’s trademark yellow color.

(After much contemplation, I have decided to endorse Senator Panfilo ”Pinky” Lacson as our candidate for the upcoming elections.)
