Calling All Spelling Bee Champions: LRT Needs You!

It must be Taft, err, tough, getting spelling right for the technocrats at Manila’s Light Railway Transit.

After that embarrassing signage announcing that train riders have arrived at the “National Bureau of Investagation,” yet another booboo was discovered by observant commuters.

It was also on the Taft Avenue stop where the sign says “University of Philippines Manila” (now covered up). But let’s give it to the LRT management: perhaps there wasn’t much space to add “the” to the signage.

Nevertheless, our fly on the wall tells us that LRT is now recruiting for spelling experts, preferably former kid champions of the National Spelling Bee!

Let’s Keep The Name NAIA

In the grand cacophony of renaming NAIA to its original moniker, Manila International Airport, the government’s twist of fate unveils a new spectacle: the New Manila International Airport in Bulacan.

Amidst this bureaucratic juggling act, a solution emerges from the chaos – maintaining the NAIA acronym but with a twist that adds a dash of showbiz flair. Behold, the Nora Aunor International Airport, where arrivals are greeted not with mundane announcements but with melodious renditions of “Pearly Shells” and “Tiny Bubbles.”

As travelers navigate the labyrinthine terminals, they’re serenaded by the dulcet tones of Philippine cinema’s legendary superstar. Baggage claim becomes a veritable red carpet affair, with luggage carts adorned in glitter and sequins. Duty-free shops peddle not just perfumes and chocolates, but DVDs of timeless classics starring the one and only Superstar.

In this grand scheme of airport theatrics, one can’t help but wonder: why settle for Manila’s past when you can bask in the brilliance of Nora Aunor’s timeless charm?

Welcome to the glittering gates of NAIA – now and forever, the Nora Aunor International Airport.
