DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A foreign journalist whose identity and country of origin we will keep secret, challenged Rodrigo Roa Duterte regarding the president’s war on drugs and the alleged spate of extra-judicial killings in the Philippines.  What the journalist got was a quick and pointed lesson in local and world history.

Duterte lectured the journalist on the unfavorable judicial system of the past that led to what he called a drug “pandemic” and the defenseless situations law enforcement personnel and their families have been put in.

Then the president reminded the journalist about the murders of black people in communities in the United States as well as the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children in places where there is war participated in by the U.S. and the United Nations.

After several attempts to try to pin down Duterte into admitting the politics of guns in the country, the journalist ended up being speechless, turning into a deer caught in the headlights. Then he finally thanked the president for the valuable lesson he received.

You see, Duterte is not only a mayor and president.  He’s a great teacher too!

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (The Adobo Chronicles, Sao Paolo Bureau) – The world knows by now that the Philippines has a connection to Singapore’s first Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling.  The swimmer who beat Michael Phelps in Rio was raised by his Filipino nanny, Auntie Yolly.

Now, it has been revealed that another Olympic medalist, Joseph Nory Mariano, is part Filipno!  Nory, a member of the Brazilian gymnastics team, won bronze in the floor exercises.

Here’s proof that Nory is Filipino:  He speaks Tagalog!

Nory’s win in Rio, in addition to Schooling and Filipina weightlifter silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz made the Philippines’ three for three record possible: gold, silver, bronze!

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – After Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka placed an order for the Helix Ear Cuff from the jewelry brand Lady Grey, the brand’s cofounders Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader decided to donate the proceeds of the sale to the Hillary Clinton campaign and two other causes.

The reason for the donation is all spelled out in this Instagram post from Lady Grey:

As soon as she saw was Instagram post which quickly went viral, Ivanka made her own decision: to donate the jewelry to the Hillary campaign.

“I got the message loud and clear,” she said. “My best wishes to Mrs. Clinton.”

The Adobo Chronicles could not independently confirm the price of the jewelry, but it will surely boost Clinton’s already hefty campaign funds.

Donald Trump has so far been quiet about his daughter’s action.
