Maria Ressa’s 180-degree Turn: “Don’t Leave Facebook.”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She took 10 steps forward. Now she’s taken 10 steps backward. “She” is Maria Ressa, criminally-convicted CEO of the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines, Rappler.”

For the longest time, the Nobel Laureate has accused Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook as a threat to Democracy, saying the social media giant has enabled the spread of hate and disinformation and is biased against facts. “Take back the Internet” has also been her template battlercry.

Now Ressa wants netizens to stay with Facebook, no matter what.

In a book signing event recently organized by the Ortigas Foundation Library on Thursday, Ressa advised attendees to not quit Facebook, questioning what could become of the social media platform if “good people” left it.

She wants to have her cake and eat it too!

Malacañang Responds To Raissa Robles’ Tweet on MOA!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Self-proclaimed investigative journalist and certified Marites got the surprise of her boring life when she received a reply from the Presidential Palace on a tweet she posted.

In her tweet, Robles called out Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno, saying she has not seen any text of the supposed MOA (Memoranda of Agreement) signed by President Bongbong Marcos during his foreign trips.

Lo and behold, Robles received an electronic message from Malacañang providing her a pdf copy of one of the MOAs signed among the Philippines, Japan and the Mall of Asia (MOA).

An embarrassed Robles then deleted her original tweet.
