DPWH Official To Drown Himself In Flood Waters If His Promise Is Not Met by 2030!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Remember when former President Noynoy Aquino promised that he was ready to be run over by a train if the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 project from Baclaran to Bacoor will not be completed in two years? The rest is history. The project wasn’t completed on time but PNoy didn’t have himself run over by a train.

Well, history repeats itself.

Engineer Mikunug Macud, Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region South Manila district engineer, recently said the target of the DPWH and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is to have zero-flooding in Metro Manila by the year 2030.

The DPWH official said that if his promise is not fulfilled by 2030, he will drown himself in flood waters.

Deal!

Rappler To Charge P6.99 Per Month For Its Yellow Verified Check Mark!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s all about the money, money, money! Or ego maybe?

Twitter was first to announce it was charging $8 a month for account holders to get verified through a blue check mark.

Not to be outdone, Meta/Facebook is now offering the same check mark for $14.99 a month.

But will Rappler just sit back and be left behind? No, not if you ask its convicted CEO Maria Ressa.

Today, Rappler announced that Filipino Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account holders can now display the yellow Rappler checkmark on their profiles for a bargain price of P6.99. That’s Philippine pesos!

Rappler has been losing revenue and following because year after year, it has been named the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines by no less than the prestigious Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Harvard University.

Ressa is hoping that this new offering would generate the needed revenue not only to keep Rappler alive, but also to help pay for the legal expenses in connection with her conviction for cyber libel, now on appeal before the Supreme Court.

So what are you waiting for? Show your pride and support for Rappler! Subscribe now for your yellow check mark!
