Polvoron: Video, No Video; Statement, No Statement

An obscure group of supporters has issued a statement, denying any malice in a viral video featuring Vice President Sara Duterte handing a box of polvoron to a schoolboy with the cryptic endorsement, “Masarap yan. Nakaka-adik” (That’s delicious. It’s addicting). The timing is as suspect as a cat burglar in a jewelry store, conveniently surfacing on the heels of a video allegedly showcasing President Bongbong Marcos engaging in powdery escapades.

But fear not, dear citizens, for this denial of malice does not hail from the VP or her office; rather, it emanates from the depths of obscurity. One might wonder why such a statement didn’t come directly from the VP herself. Perhaps she’s too busy crafting her culinary critiques or lost in the labyrinth of addictive polvoron-induced ecstasy.

In the world of politics, it seems the absurdity knows no bounds, leaving us to decipher whether it’s a comedy or a tragedy unfolding before our very eyes.

Sass Rogando Sasot Soon To Sign For A Subpoena?

Sass Rogando Sasot, the self-proclaimed purveyor of truth and justice, took to her X account to ask a pressing question: “Should I expect to be asked for my signature?”

One can’t help but wonder if this query is a sarcastic reaction to recent reports of Barangay citizens being coerced into signing documents for a dubious chart change.

While Sass might not be signing away the country’s fate, her prolific output of fake news and baseless allegations against figures like Thinking Pinoy and PCSO head Mel Robles could soon have her autographing a different kind of document – a subpoena.

It seems Sasot is unwittingly anticipating the bureaucratic paperwork that may come with her penchant for sensationalism. Perhaps cautionary tales about the consequences of spreading misinformation are written between the lines of her inquiry.

After all, in the world of satire, reality and satire often share a blurry line, and Sass might soon find herself autographing her own downfall.

Be careful what you ask for, indeed.

Dateline Zürich: Blogger Idiocy

by Maria Bratikova

An old political gambit: accuse another of what you (the accuser) are really doing. The idea is to gain advantage for whatever perceived end. It can
boomerang though. Bigly! And mostly it does.

The former Boss still speaks like a Boss. “Walang coCaine video. Kung meron man lumabas na noon pa,” per former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Either the former President, one of our two
great presidents, knows considerably lesser than
our big-mouthed nonsensical megaphones or
there is no pulvoron video (the euphemism had ascended to the pinnacle of clichéed idiocy courtesy of our busier blaaaagers).

The two exist separately: pulvoron (which i like
veddy mucho) and video (which teem in social
media in galactic numbers). But not together, in
relationship to our elected incumbent leader.

Why expose yourselves to such embarrassing
conjectures leading to self-immolation.

Puzzles me no end.
Why?
