‘Martyr Or Murderer’ Fans Respond To TRO With SRO!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The opening day of Darryl Yap’s new film, ‘Martyr Or Murderer’ was met with a threat to have it pulled out of Philippine theaters nationwide. This, through the filing of a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).

MoM, as the film is widely known, tells the story of the late Senator Ninoy Aquino. It is the second of Yap’s trilogy that began with ‘Maid In Malacañang and will soon be followed by MAM or ‘Mabuhay Aloha Mabuhay.

MoM fans are not taking the threat sitting down. Instead, they have responded with an SRO — Standing Room Only — in theater after theater.

From all indications, MoM is headed towards a blockbuster status just like its predecessor, MiM.

Will the TRO be trashed by the SRO?

Historic: Film Trilogy On Marcos Now In Philippine Theaters, Simultaneously!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A trilogy, as we all know, comes in three’s, but usually in a series with intervals in between. Not so, and only in the Philippines.

Today, March 1, 2023, history is made (and possibly a Guinness World Record).

Three films about the Marcos family are showing simultaneously in theaters nationwide!

Uniquely historical as well is the fact that the trilogy has three different movie productions, film directors and actors, not to mention three different biases!

Which one will reign supreme in the box office?

Critical Moment Awaits Joel Lamangan Film On Martial Law!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – He fulfilled his promise of making a new film on the Marcos Martial Law as a direct response to Darryl Yap’s highly successful movie, “Maid In Malacañang.”

Director Joel Lamangan, more popularly known for his “bomba” films (sex flicks), has come up with a new film, “Oras De Peligro” which chronicles the experiences of a poor urban family in the final days of the Marcos dictatorship.

Lamangan’s film opens on March 1, 2023, coinciding with the opening of Yap’s “Martyr or Murderer” about the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.

All eyes are on the box office receipts, following the dismal showing of yet another Marcos film, “Ako Si Ninoy” by Director Vince Tañada.

Will “Peligro” suffer the same fate as AsN?

More importantly, will the opening and first few days of the Lamangan movie be literally the critical moment in the Director’s long and tired career?

(Oras de Peligro English translation: Critical moment)
