Unsolicited Advice To Philippine Senators From Former Senate President.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – He knows what he is talking about because he’s been there, done that!

Former Senate President Franklin Drilon has some serious advice for the current leadership in the Philippine Senate.

Addressing the incumbent senators, Drilon said they must project the dignified image of the senate.

Drilon’s comment came in the midst of criticism that the Upper Chamber has been exhibiting a lot theatrics during sessions right before the eyes of the Filipino people.

Who could forget the moment when Senator Robin Padillo pulled a comb from his pocket and started combing his mustache. And how about that kneeling incident when Senator Ronald Batao knelt before police officers being investigated by his committee.

“You all need to wake up,” Drilon told his former colleagues.

Drilon is known in social media circles as the Philippine version of “Sleepy Joe,” sneaking in a nap or two during live senate deliberations.

Them ‘Political Analysts’ : Raissa Robles Becomes Laughing Stock Of Richard Heydarian

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She has appointed herself an ‘investigative writer’ despite using Twitter to outsource for her gossip and ‘news stories.’ Now she is calling herself a ‘political analyst.’ By whose standards, who knows?

Case in point: In her analysis of a recent SWS survey on potential presidential candidates in the 2028 elections, Raissa Robles questioned why Vice President Sara Duterte garnered only 28% while pointing out that Leni Robredo who has been out of office for almost a year now, came in third!

What Robles may have missed, or misread, was that Robredo only got a measly 6%, about half of what Senator Raffy Tulfo garnered for second place.

Enter Richard Heydrian, another political analyst. He laughed so hard at Robles’ analysis, saying that the writer should just set up shop in Greenhills.

“Whatever happened to the 15 million who voted for Robredo in the 2022 elections?”, Heydarian asked.

Moral of the story: being a political analyst also requires some basic math skills.

Kabataan Partlist Wants Age Requirement To Run For Philippine President Lowered To 35!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There’s not a whole lot of Constitutional requirements for Filipinos to be able to run for President of the country. But one of the great hindrances is age. One has to be at least 40 years old to run for the top position in the land.

Kabataan Partylist, the political party that advocates for the youth, is not happy about this qualification as it excludes millions of their members from the ultimate public servce.

Today, Kabataan Partylist Representative Raoul Manuel announced that he is filing for a Constitutional Amendment that would reduce the age qualification to run for President from 40 to 35, starting with the 2028 elections.

The proposal was immediately praised and embraced by the country’s millennials. “It’s time we were given the opportunity to chart our own future,” they said.

Among those who will benefit from this proposal is Sandro Marcos, the very popular son of President Bongbong Marcos. The younger Marcos is serving a Congressional Representative of his Ilocos district.

Sandro is 29 years old and wont’ be old enough to run for President to succeed his father in 2028. But if the Kabataan Partylist had its way, the eloquent and good-looking Congressman can set his sight on Malacañang come 2028.
