Leni Robredo Endorses Barbie Movie!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Hollywood film, “Barbie” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is finally showing in the Philippines after the go-signal from the Movie & Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB).

There were earlier moves to ban the movie for featuring a map showing China’s 9-dash lane which many argued was an intrusion into the Philippines’ territory.

Yesterday, ex-Vice President Leni Robredo formally endorsed the movie, saying it is a tribute to her and her Pinklawan movement. She encouraged all the 15 million who voted for her in the 2022 presidential elections to go see the film, and to wear pink when they do.

Is this a precursor to Robredo’s much-talked about candidacy in the 2025 senatorial elections?

Leni Robredo To Deliver Her Own SONA On July 24

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) -While Philippine President Bongbong Marcos delivers his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24, ex-Vice President Leni Robredo will simultaneously talk to the Filipino people about her accomplishments as a private citizen since she lost big in the 2022 elections.

Robredo’s talk will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena before an expected crowd of 5,999, mostly volunteers and beneficiaries of her Angat Buhay Foundation.

The special event will be directed by Atty. Vic Tañada

A crew from the defunct ABS-CBN, reporters from the Inquirer and interns from Rappler will provide live coverage of the event which Robredo is calling “State of the Nanay Address.” (Robredo has been portrayed during the 2022 presidential campaign as the country’s mother (nanay).

Earlier, Robredo declined the invitation to attend Marcos’ SONA.

When Courtesy Is Met With Sour-Graping

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Sour-graping is defined as exhibiting a negative attitude to something because they cannot have it themselves.

Philippine President Bongbong Marcos was being presidential when he extended an invitation to ex-Vice President Leni Robredo to attend his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) next week.

But Marcos’ courtesy was met with sour-graping by the one whom he defeated by a landslide in the 2022 presidential elections. Robredo declined the invitation.

“Thanks, but no thanks,” she seemed to say.

Or was it just “No” (without the thanks)?

Some people are gracious in defeat. Others are just defeated.
