QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – During the 2022 Philippine presidential campaign, then candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo portrayed herself as a very dedicated public servant, working 18 hours a day, every day.
Well, it turns out she lied. She herself said it.
In a speech at the University of the Philippines, Robredo admitted she worked Monday to Friday, during regular work hours at the Public Attorney’s Office. (Work hours at government offices is 8am to 5pm, with an hour’s break for lunch. Offices are closed Saturdays and Sundays.)
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipina Broadway actress Lea Salonga reminded her fans to respect her personal space and not cross boundaries following an incident where Filipino fans entered her dressing room without permission.
The incident happened after her Broadway performance in “Here Lies Love.” A video of the incident posted by Cristopher Retokelly Carpila on July 15, 2023 went viral online as it gained reactions from netizens.
Many defended Salonga while others called her out for being snobbish and elitist.
Among those who support the actress is no less than President Bongbong Marcos.
In siding with Salonga, Marcos issued Proclamation No. 302 declaring August 8-14 each year as “Philippine Space Week.”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Robin Padilla defended the “Kalima La ilaha ilalah” hand gesture he showed during the singing of the Philippine National Anthem during President Bongbong Marcos’ second State of the National Address.
“It is a show of my faith,” he asserted.
Padilla also told reporters that if he will not be successful in pushing for a federal parliamentary form of government, he’d rather be an imam, go to Malaysia and study the Koran than be a senator.
Unconfirmed reports say that the Muslim senator has applied for a Malaysian passport, presumably in preparation for his move to that neighboring country.
Will he go by his real name or adopt a different name, like Marcial Bonifacio?
