LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, London Bureau) – “Once a Prince, Always A Prince.” This seems to be unshakable belief of a movie theater in London.

While other establishments have changed names, say from “Her Majesty,” to “His Majesty, and the national anthem has been updated to “God Save the King,” the Prince Charles Cinema, located on 7 Leicester Pl in London, is standing its ground.

It has announced, in no uncertain terms on its marquee, that it is not changing its name to “King Charles Cinema.”

To which the fast food chain BurgerKing reacted with a public statement: “There’s nothing to change. We have always been King, never a Prince.”

In hindsight, as Filipinos would say, “advanced mag-isip.” (thinking in advance).

When The Rich And Famous Become Beggars

LAS PIÑAS, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Las Piñas Bureau) – The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism is reporting that 5 companies owned by the Villar family are top delinquent taxpayers in Las Piñas. The companies owe the city over P200 million.

Documents show that the 5 companies are now asking for tax amnesties amount to some P71.6 million.

Telco Bills Payment Deadline Extended For 90 Days!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Is the deadline for payment of your Telco bill coming up and you just don’t have the cash for it? Worry no more!

The country’s telecommunications companies — Globe, Smart and PLDT — have jointly announced that the due date for their customers’ bill payment for April, May and June has been extended for 90 days!

The move by the Telco’s is part of a compromise agreement reached with the Philippine government in order to allow for a 90-day extension of the deadline or the registration of existing SIM cards.
