In The U.S., World’s First Flying Car; In The Philippines, First Flying Coffin!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has certified for testing a vehicle that a California startup describes as a flying car— the first fully electric vehicle that can both fly and travel on roads to receive US government approval.

Alef Automotive said that its vehicle, dubbed the “Model A,” is drivable on public roads and able to park like a normal car. It also has vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. It apparently will be able to carry one or two occupants and will have a road-range of 200 miles and a flying range of 110 miles.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, a funeral parlor has obtained a patent for the first flying coffin.

It is not quite the b24 bombers of World War II. Rather, it is a real coffin designed like an airplane.

The funeral home said that their new design – named AK (Angat Kabaong) will increase attendance at wakes given that many Filipinos are coffinphobic — or have the fear of looking at coffins.

The U.S. flying car is expected to sell at $300,000, while the Filipino flying coffin will retail at P30,000.

Philippine Exporters To Stick To Old Tourism Slogan!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipino exporters of locally-made products had so much fun with the old slogan of the Department of Tourism that they adopted it in their promos and packaging. It’s More Fun in the Philippines!

Given the controversy surrounding the new slogan of “Love The Philippines,” the National Association of Filipino Exporters issued a unified statement saying that their members will ignore the new logo and stick to the old.

The Adobo Chronicles spoke with top officers of Goldilocks who said that they will not change any of their packaging bearing the old tourism logo.

“We will not spend a single centavo to transition to the new slogan that’s not catchy nor makes sense,” they said.

“Besides, the old slogan blends perfectly with our packaging. We will not settle for anything without class,” they added.
