President Marcos Sides With Lea Salonga, Declares Yearly Space Awareness Week!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipina Broadway actress Lea Salonga reminded her fans to respect her personal space and not cross boundaries following an incident where Filipino fans entered her dressing room without permission.

The incident happened after her Broadway performance in “Here Lies Love.” A video of the incident posted by Cristopher Retokelly Carpila on July 15, 2023 went viral online as it gained reactions from netizens.

Many defended Salonga while others called her out for being snobbish and elitist.

Among those who support the actress is no less than President Bongbong Marcos.

In siding with Salonga, Marcos issued Proclamation No. 302 declaring August 8-14 each year as “Philippine Space Week.”

Lea Salonga Hires New York Bouncer!

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – Still reeling from the trauma of a fan storming her dressing room for a photo at the Broadway Theater in New York City, Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga has engaged the professional services of a bouncer.

Salonga is currently starring in “Here Lies Love,” a musical about former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos’ astonishing rise to power and subsequent fall at the hands of the Philippine People Power Revolution. She plays Aurora Aquino, the mother of slain Senator Benigno “Ninoy Aquino.”

Since that fateful night, Salonga has been issuing statement after statement to the news and social media, defending herself and asserting her rights, even as a celebrity, to privacy and safe space.

To prevent the repeat of the harrowing incident, Salonga’s dressing room will now be guarded by an unnamed bouncer, provided by a New York private security agency.

That should serve as a warning for unauthorized fans to not even try to sneak into her dressing room for the rest of her engagement with the Broadway show.

Adobo Chronicles Fact Check: No, Whang-od Didn’t Do Imee Marcos’ Tattoo

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos showed up at her brother’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) garbed in a Cordilleran outfit which she says was gifted to her by an Igorot.

But the senator was also seen sporting a tattoo which immediately fueled rumors that she had gotten it from Whang-od, the famous centenarian mambabatok (tattoo artist) from Kalinga.

A quick check by The Adobo Chronicles didn’t find an Imee Marcos in Whang-od’s journal of clients. The senator also confirmed that what she was sporting was a Henna tattoo (temporary tattoo) which she was done by a Pagudpud (Ilocos Norte) Henna artist two days before the SONA.

That should clear things up!
