Citizen’s Group Files Petition To Release Maria Ressa’s Mug Shot!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If a mug shot of former U.S. President Donald Trump has been taken and publicly released, why isn’t there one for Maria Ressa?

This was the question contained in a petition filed with the Philippine National Police by a group of concerned citizens, which wants Ressa’s mug shot released to the public.

Trump has not been convicted — only indicted, arrested, booked and allowed to post bail. On the other hand, the Rappler CEO has been convicted for cyber libel and arrested twice for charges she is facing. She has also posted bail. So what gives? Is there favoritism here?

The group asked: “Is being a Nobel Laureate a passport to exemption from mug shots?”

The group told The Adobo Chronicles that “we don’t have to look overseas. Photos of high-profile Philippine personalities, including former presidents and senators, have been released and published even without conviction for some of them.”

PNP has not commented on the petition for fear of incriminating itself.

Leni Robredo Congratulates Dominican Republic!

by Melchor Vergara

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ex-Vice President Leni Robredo is known to be an avid fan of Gilas Pilipinas, but in the aftermath of the disheartening loss of the Philippine team in the opening FIBA match with Dominican Republic, she exuded true sportsmanship.

Despite the disappointment of millions of Pinoys over Gilas’ loss, Robredo took time to congratulate the Dominican Republic basketball team for their victory.

She said that aside from playing well, the team was no doubt aided by the prayers of the thousands of Dominican priests scattered throughout the world.

Prayers do work!
