U.S., China Embrace In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – In a stunning display of sculpture diplomacy, President Joe Biden has announced plans to re-establish military-to-military ties with China by gifting a colossal statue to Beijing during his meeting with President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco. 

The monumental masterpiece, titled “The Unity Embrace,” will depict a Chinese terracotta warrior warmly embracing the Statue of Liberty.

Biden, eager to showcase America’s sincere commitment to cooperation, believes this artistic gesture will symbolize the unbreakable bond between the two nations. Critics, however, question the efficacy of sculpture diplomacy and whether a giant statue can truly mend complex geopolitical relations.

As construction begins on this towering titan of unity, political satirists have dubbed it the “Statue of Liber-chino.” Only time will tell if this unconventional approach to international relations will sculpt a path towards harmony or merely stand as a monument to diplomatic whimsy.

DFA Unveils New, Updated Philippine Passport.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In a groundbreaking move, the Department of Foreign Affairs has proudly presented the revamped Philippine passport, featuring a staggering alteration: “Pilipinas” has been rebranded as “Filipinas.” 

The DFA claims this linguistic makeover was inspired by none other than Miss Universe Philippines, Michelle Dee, who is rumored to introduce herself as the representative from “Filipinas” in a nod to the country’s historical roots as Las Islas Filipinas (1500’s).

Critics are calling it a stroke of genius, while others are wondering if next, they’ll be adding “Cute Republic of Filipinas” as the official designation. Stay tuned for more linguistic acrobatics from the DFA!
