MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The integrity of public funds just got a new champion in the person of Senator Risa Hontiveros.
At a recent Senate hearing, Hontiveros asked former Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo if the Tulfo brothers should return the money paid to them for government advertising contracts now being scrutinized in the Senate.
At the same time, Hontiveros asked her fellow legislators to return their salaries for all those Senate hearings that produced no tangible results. “We must be accountable to the public, the taxpayers, for our incompetence and for being amiss in our sworn duties as true representatives of the Filipino people,” she said.
Meanwhile, when The Adobo Chronicles asked Hontiveros about the alleged missing funds at PhilHealth, she simply responded: “Magmerienda na lang tayo. Sagot ko.”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima has found strange bedfellows in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Members of her police escort at a recent court apperance were caught on video raising the five-finger sign, a symbol of all-out support for the Senator.
In addition, the police escorts shielded De Lima from media harassment by engaging in synchronized coughing whenever reporters asked a question.
