Leni Robredo Honored That Duterte Wants Typhoon To Be Named After Her (Video)

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo today said she was honored and humbled that President Rodrigo Duterte suggested that the Weather Bureau give typhoons simpler and easier-to-remember names.

Duterte seemed displeased at the name given to the latest typhoon that hit the Philippines – Usman.

Among the names Duterte suggested were Bernadette, Leonora and Leni.

”I thank the President that despite our political and ideological differences, he still thinks  highly of me and is even recommending that one of the future typhoons be named after me,” Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles.

She added:

”I hope that the Weather Bureau picks a super typhoon to name after me, for greater impact and worldwide exposure.”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Secretary Francisco Duque of the Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) may have been quiet on the Dengvaxia issue, but he is speaking his mind about escalators in Philippine malls.

Expressing alarm over the sedentary lifestyle of many Filipinos — including the lack of proper diet and exercise, Duque is proposing to Congress to ban escalators in all malls in the Philippines.

”Even the most healthy people and millennials always opt to take the escalators up and down when they’re in the malls, rather than take the stairs,” Duque said. “Walking and taking the stairs are good for the health of Filipinos, yet very few take advantage of this healthy exercise which doesn’t cost anything.”

”This is not to mention that they fail to observe escalator etiquette of standing on the right and walking on the left,” he added.

In his proposal, Duque assured seniors and persons with disability (PWD) that  elevators will remain for their use.  However, the health secretary also suggested that security guards should screen all those taking the elevators to make sure that they have proper identification as senior citizens or PWDs.

Here’s to a healthier Philippines!

Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio Makes It To The Cover Of Bride’s Magazine

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Maria Ressa may have made it to the cover of TIME Magazine’s 2018 Persons of the Year issue, but Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio has made history as the first Filipino to make it to the cover of the international Bride’s Magazine.

It all started when social media exploded with posts of the supposedly upcoming wedding of Laurio.  Some posts even revealed the couple’s wedding sponsors which include the who’s who in Opposition politics led by no less than Vice President Leni Robredo.

Upon reading the social media posts, the editors of Bride’s Magazine contacted Laurio to ask if she would agree to pose for the January cover in the  gown she’d be wearing at her wedding.  Being the social wh*re that she is, Laurio immediately said “Yes, I do.”

The rest is history.
