In a display of grandeur worthy of a telenovela, Cebu influencer Jude Bacalso recently schooled a waiter on misgendering for an impressive two-hour monologue.
Bacalso’s tirade, better suited for the senate floor before Senator Risa Hontiveros’ committee hearing on the SOGIE bill, unfolded in a restaurant, where the manager’s tolerance was evidently swayed by their friendship with Bacalso.
While many Filipinos accidentally misuse pronouns, this incident was far from a gentle correction. It was a full-blown theatrical production, with Bacalso as the self-appointed star. One must marvel at the restaurant’s management for allowing this spectacle to continue, all in the name of friendship.
Ironically, Bacalso’s own promotional video, where she praises her womanhood by mentioning the joy of “taking off the bra” and “scratching his balls,” reveals a curious double standard. This incident is a lesson not in gender sensitivity, but in the art of misplaced tantrums and unchecked privilege.
Bravo, Jude, for a performance we won’t soon forget!
