Maisug Peace Rally: Did SMNI Just Betray Its Godfather?

In the surreal theater of politics, where fish are caught by their own mouth, the latest spectacle unfolds: the “Maisug” prayer and peace rallies, heralded as  a grassroots movement against the powers that be, only to be unmasked by the very news channel supposedly championing their cause.

With a flick (or is it slip?) of the tongue, the former president emerges as the clandestine architect of these supposedly spontaneous movements, giving him the sole power to cancel a planned peace rally in Bulacan. This leaves spectators wondering if they’ve stumbled into a parody of political theater or a tragicomedy of errors.

In this bizarre landscape, where truth is stranger than fiction, cancellation transforms from collaboration to dictatorship, and  empathy morphs into manipulation. The fish, it seems, have mastered the art of angling themselves, unwittingly exposing the tangled web of political machinations beneath the surface.

As the audience watches the drama unfold, one can’t help but wonder: are we witnessing a farce of monumental proportions, or simply a play of the victim card gone awry?
