Philippine Senate’s Moronic Maroon Arm Bands

In a stunning display of theatrical prowess, the Philippine Senate has decided to tackle the alleged House of Representatives’ manipulation of the People’s Initiative for charter change with all the subtlety of a poorly written soap opera.

Apparently, the 24 distinguished members of the Upper Chamber feel their voices are lost in the cacophony of privilege speeches and Senate hearings – because nothing screams effective communication like resorting to armed bands and maroon ribbons.

Perhaps they believe the Filipino populace is on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the next episode of “Charter Change Chronicles.” The question remains: do citizens truly care about ribbons, or is this just another attempt to distract from the real issues?

One can only wonder if the Senate’s next grand idea is to replace the national tri-colors with a solid maroon, because nothing says national pride like a monochromatic fashion statement.
