Quo Vadis, Socmed Influencers?

In the golden days of social media, influencers were like modern-day philosophers, dissecting political intricacies with wit and wisdom. They were the guiding light through the murky waters of biased news coverage. Alas, the once-respected influencers now resemble a dysfunctional reality show.

Gone are the days of insightful analyses; now, it’s a battlefield of personal attacks among influencers-turned-enemies. Former BFFs have morphed into bitter rivals, airing their dirty laundry for the world to see. Social media, once a haven for political discourse, now mirrors a gossip column and a slapstick comedy show.

Some influencers, unable to secure cushy positions in the new administration, have resorted to using their platforms for petty vendettas. Blogs, once a source of valuable information, now force-feed biased opinions, leaving followers suspicious of ulterior motives—perhaps driven by hefty compensation.

Maybe it’s time to heed Maria Ressa’s call to “take back the Internet” from the circus it has become.

The question remains: Quo Vadis, Social Media Influencers? Straight into the depths of absurdity, it seems.
