Your Word Of The Day: MERCINARY

Today, we would like to share a new word to your already rich vocabulary, courtesy off international expert Sass Rogando Sasot: MERCINARY.

Now, don’t mistake the word with the more common and familiar “mercenary,” also known as a hired gun, a freelance, or a sellsword – which means a private individual who joins an armed conflict for personal profit, is otherwise an outsider to the conflict, and is not a member of any other official military.

Mercinary comes from the root word, “mercy” and is thought to refer to mercenaries who suddenly have a change of heart and decide to abort their intended mission of harming or killing their intended victim.

Merci beaucoup, Sass!
