Maria Ressa Would Fail In A U.S. Citizenship Exam!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Every American and all those who are naturalized U.S. citizens are all too familiar with the phrase, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” They are three inalienable rights embodies in the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

But it seems Nobel Laureate, Rappler CEO and convicted criminal Maria Ressa needs some civic lessons. She would fail in a U.S. citizenship exam.

Her template narratives always include the claim that she is risking her “life and liberty” in fighting the Philippine government and her alleged advocacy of press freedom. Time and again, she has omitted “pursuit of happiness.”

Is it because she is not a happy camper? Or is she not happy because her online news blog is the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines?

Only Ressa knows what she knows.
