The Sour-Graping Of Maria Resssa

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Congratulations are in order for Rappler CEO Maria Ressa. Her news brand has now reached the Hall of Fame.

For the fourth straight year, Rappler was named the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines in the annual Digital News Report by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.

But the Nobel Laureate is not happy about the recognition she has received. She is fighting back.

Commenting on the Reuters report, Ressa says the study puts journalists and independent outlets at risk. She says the research is flawed.

Well, Ressa can’t have it all. She has her flaws, and sour-graping won’t help her and Rappler hold the line.

The people have spoken. Year after year.

Elon Musk Calls Out Rappler and VeraFiles!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – If there is one person who has no qualms about standing up to so-called fact checkers, Elon Musk is the man!

In a recent tweet, The Twitter owner said fact checkers are huge liars and incredibly biased.

The Adobo Chronicles reached out to Musk and asked him what he thinks of Facebook’s fact checkers in the Philippines — Rappler and VeraFiles.

He said recent news developments speak for themselves.

Rappler was named the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines (four years in a row) according to a survey by Oxford University’s Reuters Institute for the Study Journalism, while Ellen Tordesillas of VeraFiles was named by America First Legal one of 11 ‘journalists’ who decide what Americans and others can see online.

Musk also called on Facebook to terminate the fact-checking contracts of Rappler and VeraFiles since both have lost their credibility as guardians of truth.

Rappler Reaches Hall Of Fame Status!

LONDON, The United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, London Bureau) – Rappler, Maria Ressa’s online news blog, is a relatively young brand in the Philippines, but it has gone a long way as a social media influencer and purveyor of disinformation.

The recently-released 2023 Digital News Report by Oxford University’s Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has once again named Rappler the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines.

This is the fourth year in a row that Ressa’s outfit has earned this honor, elevating it to the Hall of Fame.

Congratulations are in order!
