MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Aiming to significantly improve the health status of all Filipinos, the Marcos administration is planning to impose new taxes on junk and unhealthy foods.
This was announced today by the Department of Finance.
Among the measures to be undertaken is to raise taxes on restaurants and establishments that serve unli rice (unlimited rice) and sugary desserts like leche flan.
“It’s shooting two birds with one bullet,” Malacañang said, “as it will also prevent rice shortages in the country.
Many will recall that during the regime of Ferdinand Marcos, Sr., the government launched a campaign to encourage eateries to serve only half a cup of rice due to shortages in supply.

YouTube on Wednesday terminated a YouTube channel associated with Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of megachurch Kingdom of Jesus Christ and media network SMNI .
No details were given except that the channel violated YouTube’s rules.
