Maria Ressa Is An Inaugural Member of the U.N. Panel On Internet Censorship

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rappler CEO and convicted criminal Maria Ressa has brought another big honor to her beloved country, the Philippines.

Ressa has been chosen as an inaugural member of the United Nations Panel on Internet Censorship.

U.N. sources told The Adobo Chronicles that Ressa, a Nobel Laureate, is perfect for the panel, having been a Facebook fact checker where she excelled in closing down many accounts that run counter to her yellow narratives.

It will also be recalled that Ressa has been advocating that Rappler “take back the Internet,” after her least-trusted news brand lost out to individual social media influencers and netizen journalists.

NTC, SEC Announce New Media Mergers!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – TV5, ABS-CBN, hindi kayo nag-iisa (you are not alone.)

In a hurriedly-called press conference last night, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) jointly announced that following the recent merger of broadcast networks TV and ABS-CBN, several other media entities have submitted merger applications

Both the NTC and SEC see this development as positive indication that the country’s news media companies are finally getting their act together — strengthening their respective hold on Filipino news consumers while beefing up their resources in view of tight competition not only amongst themselves but with social media and netizen journalism.

The proposed mergers are as follows:

  1. 1. TV5 and ABS-CBN (under review by NTC)
  2. 2. IBC 13 and PTV 4 (both government-owned)
  3. 3. Bombo Radyo and Radyo Pilipinas
  4. 4. Abante Tonight and Philippine Star
  5. 5. Rappler and The Adobo Chronicles

The two government agencies said they will look closely at the applications of these media entities to make sure that there is no violation of existing laws on monopoly and media ownership.

Rappler To Fact-Check ‘Dahil Sa Iyo!’

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rappler, the least-trusted news brand in the Philippines whose CEO Maria Ressa is a convicted criminal, is about to factcheck “Maid In Malacañang” theme song, ‘Dahil Sa Iyo’ as recorded by singer Daryl Ong.

Rappler, the ultimate authority in all things anti-Marcos, will look into whether Ong was in tune and if the song lyrics were accurate.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Ressa said it is her blog’s responsibility to ensure that there was no historical revisionism in the recording of this song classic, made popular by no less than former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos.

In the music video, Ong is seen singing parts of the song inside what appeared to be Mrs. Marcos’ closet of shoes. “We will have to check if the shoes were authentic,” Ressa added.
