Darryl Yap’s New Film Project Opens Christmas Day!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Twenty one million pesos in box office receipts on the first day of “Maid in Malacañang” is enough for a champagne celebration by Viva Films and director Darryl Yap. But there’s more to be excited about.

Viva Films just announced that a “sequel” to “Maid in Malacañang” is already in the making and is scheduled to open in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day, 2022.

The new flick is titled “Kidnapped In Malacañang,” and its title alone would be a giveaway on what the movie is all about.

Like “Maid in Malacañang,” the new film is based on the last 72 hours of the Marcos family before they where whisked away to Hawaii. This time, the story is told from the perspective of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines which was then headed by Ambassador Stephen Bosworth.

Viva Films told The Adobo Chronicles that the script was finalized with lots of help from de-classified CIA documents, making the film a true historical account of the Marcos family’s unwanted one-way trip to Hawaii.

The cast has not been revealed by Viva, but informed sources say that Senator Imee Marcos has been tapped to play herself in this new biopic.
