MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – With the proclamation of Bongbong Marcos as the duly-elected President of the Philippines, the spotlight is now focused on the country’s First Lady for the next 6 years.
Bongbong Marcos’ mother, Imelda, has never lost her title of First Lady which she held for decades. Will a return of a Marcos to Malacañang also reinstate Imelda’s title?
Not quite. Bongbong’s wife, Liza Araneta-Marcos will naturally be the First Lady.
But so as not to hurt and disappoint his 92 year-old mother, Bongbong has decided to formally designate Imelda as First Lady Emeritus.
