MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She had good intentions, but journalist Inday Espina-Varona’s tweet “endorsing” Senatorial candidate Mar Roxas went awry (Tagalog translation: aray).

While extolling Roxas’ record on human rights, Varona admitted she didn’t like Roxas much, called him “infuriating” and a member of the landowning class. She also took a swipe at Roxas’ campaign team for making the candidate look ridiculous.

Responding to Varona, Roxas told The Adobo Chronicles: “If Inday thinks she was doing me  favor, she should think again. She could have endorsed my candidacy without bringing up any negatives. She can’t have her cake and eat it too.”

The former Interior Secretary (under NoyNoy Aquino) added: “It doesn’t matter. She is just one vote.  Nobody believes her anyway.”
