MENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Jose Bureau) – In a recent forum, Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg told an unbelieving audience that “the future is private,” referring to Facebook’s newest inititiative to create living room-style spaces for more intimate social interaction among its users.
One of Zuckerberg’s first moves under this new initiative was to end Facebook’s fact-checking relationship in the Philippines with Rappler and Vera Files.
”The type of fact-checking these partners pursued was grossly intrusive of private accounts of netizens and Facebook users, and they have gone overboard by using such partnership for their self-promotion and propaganda. They have even gone as far as fact-checking satire sites like The Adobo Chronicles,” Zuckerberg said.
As of this writing, neither Rappler nor Vera Files has issued a statement on Facebook’s new initiative. However, sources have confirmed that the two entitites are planning to first fact-check this developing story before commenting.
