THE VATICAN (The Adobo Chronicles, Rome Bureau) – Because this year’s Easter Sunday falls on April 1 — April Fool’s Day — Pope Francis has decreed a one-week delay in the celeberation of Christ’s Resurrection.
Speaking in his native Spanish from St. Peter’s Basilica, Francis said, “We cannot turn our believers into non-believers, especially on this joyous day in the Roman Catholic calendar. Easter is definitely not a joke.”
It will be recalled that the Pope in February also urged lovers to postpone their Valentine’s celebration because it fell on Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting and abstinence.
We commend the flexibility of the Pope and the Catholic Faithful!
