MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Athletes, politicians and film actors know when to quit: when they’re on top of their careers. It’s all about the legacy that one leaves behind — a winner, a record.
Today, the Philippines has announced that if its representative to the 2016 Miss World Beauty Pageant, Catriona Gray, wins the crown, the country will quit all international pageants going forward.
Gray remains to be a favorite to win the popular contest to be held January 20 in Washington, D.C. She would be the second Filipina Miss World, the first being Megan Young.
So why will the Philippines quit all international beauty pageants?
It’s all about the record. If Gray wins, it will be the first time ever that a country holds all three titles.
It will be a most gracious and victorious exit from the beauty workd for the Philippines. It might even be on the Guiness World Record. For a long time.
