MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday said she was quitting her post as President Rodrigo Duterte’s housing chief on Monday, December 5.

In a statement released by her office late Sunday, Robredo said her resignation was prompted by Duterte’s order for her “to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting this Monday, December 5.”

The order was given through a text message sent by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr, who in turn was relaying instructions given by Duterte through Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.

This seems to be a case of ‘lost in translation.’

Before she announced her resignation, she was asked not to attend all Cabinet meetings which is tantamount to being fired.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles that beginning Monday, she can focus on her modeling career, gracing the covers of fashion magazines.
