MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President Archbishop Socrates Villegas has called on the family of deposed tyrant Ferdinand Marcos to stop using the corpse of their patriarch to advance their ambitions.
Oposing Marcos’ controversial burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Villegas said what the late dictator needed were prayers and not honors.
“And the same is true with the street protesters. They need to stop using a dead body to advance their various agenda — from being anti-Duterte, pro-De Lima, anti-U.S., being cool. Most especially, they should not use the Marcos burial issue to protest the Catholic Church’s huge financial investments,” Villegas added.
So if you’re Catholic and you know it, heed the bishops’ call.
