MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos got their taxpayer money’s worth yesterday when they were treated to a live coverage of the confrontation between Senator Alan Cayatano and Antonio Trillanes over the former’s questioning of a witness brought in by Senator Leila De Lima.
The witness had testified on the Davao Death Squads (DDS) in connection with the Senate hearing on extra-judicial killings.
Trillanes called Cayetano “annoying.” Cayetano accused Trillanes of trying to be a “timekeeper.” It was better than a teleserye moment which brought out De Lima’s hidden referee skills.
After hearing of the incident, Senator Manny Pacquiao — yes the boxing champion — offered to coach Cayetano on boxing skills for future use in case there will be another confrontation with Trillanes.
“There is no reason to waste taxpayer money over hours of back and forth rhetoric and accusations,” Pacquiao said. “I can teach Cayetano on how to shut up Trillanes in less than three rounds.”
It was a knockout of an offer by Pacquiao which Cayetano seems to be leaning towards accepting.
