BOGOTÁ, Colombia (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – It wasn’t quite a Miss Universe or Steve Harvey moment, but it did involve a Colombian beauty queen and the first runner-up.

A sore loser snatched the crown from the winner and put it on her own head for  a brief photo opportunity that has shocked and angered  beauty pageant-loving Colombians.

In an unprecedented move, the Colombian government announced that effective immediately, it was banning all local and national beauty pageants, calling the televised crown-snatching a “national disgrace.”

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach Harvey for comment but was unsuccessful. We’ll try again later.
