MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When President Aquino turns over the reins of government to the newly-elected administration of Rodrigo Duterte, there will be not one, but two mayors who will occupy Malacañang, the presidential palace.
Duterte had already announced that his daughter Sara will become the country’s First Lady (Duterte is separated from his wife and is known to be living with two “wives” and two girlfriends.). But Sara has also just been elected mayor of Davao City. That’s one mayor in Malacañang.
The other mayor? Rod Duterte himself.
Although he will be sworn in as president, Duterte wants to be called mayor. He made that clear during a recent interview. “Let the word spread,” he said.
This will be the first time in Philippine history that an elected vice president will be reporting to a mayor.
