MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Yesterday, we reported that broadcast journalist and former congressman and presidential press secretary Teddy Boy Locsin, Jr., was ordered deported by the Philippines’ Bureau of Immigration for being a ‘persona non grata’ after he said Tagalog  (Pilipino) was a lousy language.  His comments came right after the second presidential debate in which he criticized Senator Grace Poe and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas for using the national language in responding to questions.

Well, it seems he is not going to be deported after all.  Instead, he has voluntarily checked in at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. He has admitted that something is definitely wrong with the way he has been thinking and acting in the last few days.

Just days after his comments on the use of Tagalog in the presidential debates, Locsin said that the sign language interpreter during the same debate was “just waiving his hand.” His comment angered the hearing-impaired and their advocates.

Just before he checked in at the mental hospital, Locsin said he has been hearing voices and that he was merely verbalizing those voices when he made his comments on the Tagalog and sign languages.
