DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – The 63rd Miss Universe Pageant will be held on January 25, 2015, at the US Century Bank Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Florida.
Who will succeed reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela? That final decision will be in the hands of a distinguished international panel of judges.
Unconfirmed reports say that Filipino world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has been invited to be one of the judges. Pacquiao is not only a boxer; he is a basketball coach and player, a music lover (Karaoke), a one-star general in the Philippines Armed Forces, an elected Congressman, and a connoiseur of beauty.
The only thing that is preventing Pacquiao from accepting the invitation is his mom’s demand to Miss Universe Pageant owner Donald Trump that she replace her son as judge. “I am more qualified than Manny to judge beauty and talent, and I have an equally recognized status as an international celebrity,” the mom, popularly known as Mommy Dionisia, told reporters in Manila.
Trump will make a decision in the coming days.
As the pageant’s season is heating up, there have been the early crowd favorites named including Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Miss India Noyonita Lodh, Miss Brazil Melissa Gurgel, and Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa.
As of the moment, Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa garners the most likes and shares on the official Facebook page of Miss Universe. The contestant has been loudly recognized on the social media for being ‘such an advocate for peace and humanity’ considering that she grew up on a war-torn province in her country.
Meanwhile, Natalie Morales and Thomas Roberts are appointed as the hosts of the grand event, together with Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida from Philippines as an ‘On the Scene’ insider.
There will be ample Philippines representation at the pageant in Doral — a contestant, a judge, an ‘On the Scene’ commentator and hundreds of the estimated 21,000 Florida-based Filipinos who live in the Metropolitan Miami Area.
