MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Ex-Vice President Leni Robredo is known to be an avid fan of Gilas Pilipinas, but in the aftermath of the disheartening loss of the Philippine team in the opening FIBA match with Dominican Republic, she exuded true sportsmanship.

Despite the disappointment of millions of Pinoys over Gilas’ loss, Robredo took time to congratulate the Dominican Republic basketball team for their victory.

She said that aside from playing well, the team was no doubt aided by the prayers of the thousands of Dominican priests scattered throughout the world.

Prayers do work!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos are known to be a resilient people, even in sports. Many were disheartened by the defeat of Gilas Pilipinas against Dominican Republic in the opening match of the FIBA World Cup. The Pinoys lost with a final score of 87-81.

But Filipinos were stunned and euphoric when they watched a replay of the game today on PTV4. In the replay, it was the Philippine team that won the match with the same score of 87-81 in its favor!
