Adobo Chronicles Fact-checks Senator Raffy Tulfo

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippine Star is reporting that Senator Raffy Tulfo has slammed the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s “anti-poor” plan to impose taxes on junk food next year.

In a statement, Tulfo said that poor families would even eat chips as viands to feed their hungry stomachs.

But an AC investigation found out that a 180g pack of potato chips costs about P278 at Lazada, and that’s even on sale!

The Daily Price Monitoring report by the Department of Agriculture further shows that for that amount of money, or less, “poor Filipinos” can buy a whole chicken, a kilo of pork, or fish.

So where does Tulfo get his information? Perhaps from unpaid interns who don’t even know how to do simple things as Google check?

OUR VERDICT: Senator Tulfo’s statement has no basis in fact and is trying to play on emotions.

Political Analyst Richard Heydarian Caught With Deadly Weapons At Museum!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Political analyst Richard Heydarian almost fooled security personnel at a museum in Manila on Thursday.

Dressed in a “spic and span” light-colored suit, Heydarian walked by the metal detectors without any problem. However, as he was walking away from the security area, a female guard noticed that he was wearing not one, but two, deadly sharp weapons.

He was immediately detained but was released later in the day after posting P15,000 worth of Iranian Rial.

Larry Gadon’s Fascination For BBM

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – That he is a rabid Marcos loyalist is a given, but disbarred attorney Larry Gadon’s fascination for the letters B, B & M shines through even in his new position as PAPA (Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation).

In his first official act as an Administration official, Gadon launched a child feeding program he named BBM – Batang Busog, Malusog (child fed, healthy).

Will his succeeding projects also bear the initials of his boss, Bongbong Marcos?

Incidentally, we reached out to Gadon for comment on his disbarment by the Philippine Supreme Court and asked him if he was ready to apologize to journalist Raissa Robles whom he cussed in the disbarment case.

His reply: BBM!
