EDSA People Power 2024: No Work! No pay! How Dare You!

Malacañang has announced that it did not include the 38th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution in the list of special non-working days for 2024 as its observance has minimal socioeconomic impact.

This did not sit well with the Dilawan who have to call in sick to work that day, skip classes to attend a public commemoration historically attended by an ever-dwindling few for almost 40 years now.

Imagine the likes of Raissa Robles who would no longer be able to peddle their never-again lies about the Marcos Martial Law.  Imagine how the non-declaration of a holiday will completely re-write Philippine history and distort facts on whom people have come to judge as either martyr or murderer.

But oh, wait, next year’s EDSA People Power anniversary falls on a Sunday.  No work. No School.  And the few souls who would brave the heat to raise their fists at the EDSA memorial can still do so.  No traffic closures, no riot police deployment needed.  Just the unimpeded right of expression for the ever-so-patriotic Filipino.

While offices and schools will be closed, the nearby Robinson’s Mall will be open for all to enjoy!

So let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill, shall we?

The Brouhaha Over Confidential Intelligence Funds

Ah, the uproar over the confidential intelligence funds of the Office of the Vice President and, more recently, the Office of the President – what a riveting spectacle of moral outrage! It’s almost amusing how we’re collectively clutching our pearls over the labels – confidential, secret, discretionary. After all, what’s in a name, right?

Let’s not forget the pièce de résistance, the granddaddy of them all, the true mastermind behind our financial conundrums: the infamous PORK BARREL! Ah, that delightful line item in our budget, a true testament to fiscal responsibility.

Now, I can’t help but ponder, if only PM Benjamin Netanyahu had access to more intelligence funds, perhaps he could have foreseen the surprise Hamas attack on Israel! Who needs military intelligence when you can have confidential intelligence funds, right?

So, my dear fellow Filipinos, let’s not be so quick to cast stones. Let’s embrace the secrecy of our confidential intelligence funds because, who knows, they might just save us from the cunning schemes of foreign and local troublemakers. After all, surprises are best left to birthday parties, not national politics or international conflicts.
