Is it Aloha For Darryl Yap’s ‘Mabuhay Aloha Mabuhay?’

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – In Hawaii, we say “Aloha” to mean different things: “hello or welcome” when greeting people, or “Farewell and Godspeed” when parting with friends and loved ones.

September 21, 2023 (the 51st anniversary of the Marcos Martial Law) has come and gone, but Darryl Yap’s third in a film series on the Marcoses is nowhere to be found in theaters. It was the supposed opening date for this flick which chronicles the Hawaii exile of the family in 1986 all the way to the 2022 election of Bongbong Marcos. The first two of the series were, of course, “Maid in Malacañang” and “Martyr or Murderer.”

No official announcement from the Yap camp on the status of the film, but disappointment is already spreading among the fans of the two previous Marcos flicks.

While the cast of the new film has long been announced, the speculation is that it hasn’t even started shooting.

Does this mean we should bid “Aloha” (the farewell version) to MaM, or hope for its incarnation on September 21, 2024?

GMA Viewers Confused: News Program Turns Into Teleserye! (Video)

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – In a shocking twist, viewers who tuned in to GMA Integrated News’ noontime news program, “Balita Ko,” (formerly “Balitanghali”) were left scratching their heads as the serious news program transformed into a melodramatic teleserye.

The news anchor, famous for delivering headlines with unwavering professionalism, suddenly burst into a passionate monologue, seemingly straight out of a soap opera.  This, in place of what was supposed to be a news bulletin.

Viewers were both perplexed and oddly captivated.

GMA has surely reinvented the news game, leaving viewers bewildered and entertained in equal measure.

Leni Robredo To Star In Hollywood Remake Of “Pretty In Pink!”

HOLLYWOOD, California ( The Adobo Chronicles, Hollywood Bureau) – Ex-Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo has caught the attention of Hollywood!

Universal Pictures just announced that Robredo has signed contract to star in a remake of the 1986 American teen romantic comedy-drama film, Pretty in Pink , about love and social cliques in American high schools in the 1980s

Her role will be that of a Filipino who fakes her credentials to be able to legally work in America as a high school teacher.

Universal said its choice of Robredo was inspired by her own pink movement in the Philippines, especially during her failed 2022 presidential campaign.

The project is a collaboration by Universal and The Adobo Chronicles films.
